Light of the world you step down into darkness…

opened my eyes, let me see…

It’s been a very strange Christmas Eve.

I woke up at 6:30, rolled over, awoke at 7:00… and stared at my ceiling for almost 45 mins… Trying to will myself to sleep. It didn’t work. I got up, went downstairs and sat in front of my computer. Checked my xanga, read some subscriptions… and then I just sat there. I was miserable. I can’t even piece together a coherent way to describe it. I tried thinking about all the things I should be grateful for. Family, friends, Jesus… oh yes, Jesus. It wasn’t guilt from something. It wasn’t because I am not thankful for all God has done for me. Maybe it’s an extension of my dissatisfaction with myself. Yes, I really do hate a part of myself. Hate it with a vengance. Wanna nail that mofo down and make sure he never gets back up again… I want to overcome the sin & see victory in my life. And then I remember… He’s been here too, but in reverse…

Joseph & Mary were engaged to be married. But Mary was pregnant and it wasn’t Joseph’s. Add on top of this, they have to travel to Joseph’s hometown to be counted in a census. If you think American Airlines sucks… imagine walking or riding a donkey for days at a time. Mary must’ve been tired, miserable and maybe even a little ashamed of her condition. Misery. Tired. They stop in Bethlehem… there are no rooms available. They might have to had to beg for a place to stay. So somebody takes pity on these two travelers. He sticks them in with the animals. I’m pretty sure it didn’t smell like potpourri in there. And Mary’s water breaks… Joseph probably had to help deliver. Enter Jesus, stage left. But sometimes, maybe we’ve missed the most miserable part. Jesus left his place… stepped down from a heavenly throne and was contained within the confines of a human body. (Imagine going from being a human… to taking on the form of a hamster. It might be fun for a little bit, but try being one for 30+ years.)
But the show isn’t done. A bunch of lowly shepherds come by and stare at Jesus for awhile. They’re muttering about some star in the sky. And then it gets downright unbelieveable. 3 wise men come… and they present Christ with gifts. But why all this? What’s the point of all this insanity? God taking on the form of a man. That’s crazy talk, if I’ve ever heard it…

But when you think about it. It’s been 2000+ years since Jesus died for our sins. And we’re still talking about Him. This misery, this plan was of God’s making. He came to shine and to show people to the way to Life and the Father. He shined so brightly… that even after all this time. People can still find the way home from His light.

During this Christmas season, remember that we follow Jesus, a God who loves us enough to endure all sorts of misery & discomfort… to shine & to bring us home. May we learn to follow in His awesome and great ways, to shine bright and to show the way back home to friends and family.

Merry CHRISTmas !

SHINE, like there’s no tomorrow… because for some of my friends, there may not be.

Hi, thanks for stopping by my site. Merry Christ-mas!!

I’m touched with what you’ve wrote. The Truth sets us free; but once we knew about it, we become earnest in sharing what we found out. It becomes frustrating when the response is not what we are expecting; but just the same, we are fortunate that God is using us as His instruments to reach others so they, too, can live an eternal life with God and Jesus.

Jesus is a gift from God–the Reason for this season. Many missed out the meaning of Christmas because they have not opened God’s gift. Many failed to understand who Jesus in the manger was all about, Jesus on the cross was and Jesus who rose again. Just because many did not attempt to open His gift of grace.

For us, we only need to continue what God desires for us to do– the rest we left to God as nothing is impossible to Him. May you find comfort that God loves you unconditionally as you try to understand more about yourself. Depend on Him–trust Him and He will direct your path, a promise God has been fulfilling in my own life. 🙂

Take care and may the coming year bring you an understanding of God’s wisdom and discernment.
