But only one thing is needed… (Mary & Martha)

  As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”
   “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

This is a good passage for me to study today, right now. I’m preparing the food for our family group. (Curry and rice, if you must know.) I’m thinking about potatoes, onions, chicken, rice, drinks… etc. But that’s not really what family group is about. It’s not about food or drink really. It is really a place of fellowship, where we can grow closer to each other and closer to God. But life can throw distractions at us from all angles… and sometimes, we forget what is really important in our lives.

KISS>> Stop getting distracted and build your relationship with Jesus…

Dad, keep me from getting distracted. Keep my eyes on my hope and the lover of my soul. I ask this in the Son’s name, Jesus. Amen.

This frankly scares the heck out of me. I pray that this FAD never comes over to the US. Getting in touch with your slutty side or something… I don’t think any of us should need to get acquainted with that side. Sexual, sure. PDA gone overboard? I think so.
