Then Job replied to the LORD:

“I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted.

You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my counsel without knowledge?’

Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know.

You said, ‘Listen now, and I will speak: I will question you, and you shall answer me.’

My ears have heard of you but now my eyes have seen you,
Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes.”

— Job 42:1-6 (NIV)

Is it just me… or does God lay a mean smackdown? He isn’t called “Almighty” for nothing. Pity the fool who gets in God’s way…

Job 40:7 “Brace yourself like a man; I will question you and you shall answer me.”
    That’s definitely smackdown talk there…

there is so much in that book. i remember listening to chuck swindoll do a series on the book of job. it was really good. one thing i remember is to shut up when i have nothing good to say, to just be a friend. another is that god redeems. gosh, there’s a lot of stuff…

    this cow is cute.

  3. racer says:

trust, righteousness, faith, patience, sovereignty, wisdom, testing and redemption. i also see a prototype of the suffering righteous one typifying the antitype, Jesus Christ.

Job, very poetic and rather discursive, but its good stuff! 😆

did you know that job was often read aloud and acted out? its one of the first things they did as theatre. its a really poetic, beautiful book, and people often miss that cause the mightiness factor tends to overshadow it.

  5. No matter what we go through, God is there. Even in the midst of the most difficult circumstances in our life. We can choose to let those things bring us down and bitter, or we can choose to let them build our faith and make us better. That is what I get out of the book of Job.

    Many blessings

no matter how right you think you are …we’re all wrong :p hahaha but God is right and His ways are not our ways and His understanding by no means ours :p..but yes, I agree, SOOO many good things in the book of Job 🙂

OMG….I’m currently reading the book of JOb too!!! I shared this one of my other firends too…I love Job 28:28…The fear of the Lord- that is wisdom. And to shun evil is understanding……..to FEAR him is wisdom…gosh…I ask- is that what makes a person wise in God’s eyes…? not sophistictaed words, not even to know all the verses of the bible backwards and forwards, no eloquent speech of how great our God is…….

just merely fear of our Lord that makes one wise..reverence, not just see God as a friend and comforter…but to also just know that HE is God…and HIS ways are higher…a KING to be glorified…the rest comes all comes as a response…e.g obedience, trust, faith, love….ectetc..He says THAT is wisdom….

    awesome…

The absolute Soverignity of the Almighty God ! The wisdom, honour and power of God.

But my favorite from Job is Job 19: 25-26 (NIV)

25 I know that my Redeemer [c] lives, and that in the end he will stand upon the earth. [d]

    26 And after my skin has been destroyed, yet [e] in [f] my flesh I will see God;
