~ He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good… ~

“You have heard it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”

— Matthew 5:43-48 (NIV) —

God loves everyone. And he demands that those who profess to follow Him, to love their enemies. Those who choose to sin against me, should be blessed because God blesses both the good and the evil. Who am I to choose who to love and who to hate? Perfection is loving. Loving even the undeserving… Loving even your enemies. Because while we were still enemies of God, God came and died for our sins… so we could be redeemed and live…

Father forgive me for all those times where I hung on to other things and didn’t keep hanging onto you. Keep my eyes on You, Lord. Keep my grubby hands from grabbing onto my idea of love, my strengths, money and power. Let Your will be done in my life, Lord.  I pray all this in Jesus name, Amen.

  1. Amen. Perfection is love. This is interesting. I know I brought up the subject before. Loving your enemies is very hard. It can be done. With god’s will I am slowly learning this. Loving is easier than hating. I think. Hating takes too much energy. For me love comes naturally. Second nature. Love can be in different forms. I believe. I don’t have to agree with someone ie being the way they live in general or what they stand for. I love them for the person they can be. Gods will is great. I am still trying to figure out who my god is. I don’t want you to think I haven’t forgot. Thanks for sharing. I enjoy it.
