Forget American Idol, how about some GOD?

“This is what the LORD says –
Israel’s King and Redeemer, the LORD Almighty:
I am the first and I am the last;
apart from me there is no God.
Who then is like me? Let him proclaim it.
Let him declare and lay out before me
what has happened since I established my ancient people,
and what is yet to come –
yes, let him foretell what will come.
Do not tremble, do not be afraid.
Did I not proclaim this and foretell it long ago?
You are my witnesses. Is there any God besides me?
No, there is no other Rock; I know not one.”

— Isaiah 44:6-8 (NIV) —

This is God calling earth. Do you copy? CallSign: Alpha Omega.

Can you mistake someone or something else for God? How do you recognize God?

1. Kingship. This is the one above all things… all powers, all kingdoms. Nothing can top him. You can be in denial, but there’s no mistaking God’s claim to ‘top of the heap’.

2. Redeemer. He is the one who has bought you from your slavery. The one who paid the price for our freedom. Freedom from the power of sin. The chains of guilt… Grab a hold of Him and you are truly free, more than any freedoms any kingdom or power on earth can grant.

3. He was around long before anyone else. First.

4. and He’ll be around long after everything is long gone. Last. (Maybe God even exists outside of time… just a cute little theory of mine…)

5. There is no other “GOD”. So a rose by any other name, most definitely does not smell as sweet… in this case anyway.

God knows our past… He knows where we are from, what we have experienced. He’s been with watching over us all this time, he would know. If you think a little bit of darkness hides some secret, think again.

God knows our future. He knows  where we are headed. He sees the problems before they appear, obstacles before they form, events before they play out.

God commands fear (read: respect) When we think about this awe-inspiring one watching over us. Seeing our sins and knowing about his view of justice, what is a human to do?

But God is more than just a deliverer of justice. He is also loving and caring. Do not be afraid. He’s on our side… if only we would let Him.

We are to bear witness before men of God. Who God is and what God wants. We are to be beacons of light, reflecting God’s love and the hope we all have in Jesus. To show all those who seek God, the Rock on which to cling in a world of shifting sands.

Stand firm with God. He will not move. Even if the entire world were to fall away, God will always be and He would like you to come along too…

Father, I pray that people would know Your character. Help me to show them how you are, by my actions and my words. Choose the words, I speak and guide my feet upon the path. Let me not stray from your ways, Lord, no matter what the temptation. Thank you for this time to see further into Your heart. May all good things come in good time. I pray this in the name of Him in whom we hope, Jesus. Amen.

  14. Yeah… I certainly spend too much time thinking about it.  And actually, I think that’s what keeps my hope up… the fact that I know I’m not even ready for a relationship and that God is forming me right now….  God is molding me into who I need to be.  And yeah, possibly the guy isn’t ready yet either.  haha
