It was almost Christmas time
there I stood in another line
tryin’ to buy that last gift or two
Not really in the christmas mood
standing right in front of me
was a little boy waiting anxiously
pacing around like little boys do
and in his hand he held
a pair of shoes
and his clothes were worn and old
he was dirty from head to toe
and when it came his time to pay
I couldn’t believe what I heard him say
Sir I wanna buy these shoes, for my momma please
it’s Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size

Daddy says there’s not much time
You see she’s been sick for quite a while
and I know these shoes will make her smile

If momma meets Jesus tonight
They counted pennies for what seemed like years
then the cashier said, “Son there’s not enough here”
he searched his pockets frantically
and he turned and he looked at me
He said, “Momma made christmas good at our house
although, most years she just did without.
Tell me sir
What am I gonna do?
some how I gotta buy her these christmas shoes”
So I laid the money down
I just had to help him out

I like that song, it made me sniffle a little listening to it. Speaking of Christmas, I can’t believe the world is trying to ban people from saying “Merry Christmas”. Armaggedon is definitely near!

Depends on your definition of conservatism. if you mean fiscal conservativism, of his giving of love, definitely not. He gave liberally, that is for sure.
But He also said that anyone that so much as looks at a woman with lust in his heart has already committed adultery with her, and that he that even thinks about hurting someone else has already done the sin. I’m not advocating legalism here, but I’m just making the point that when it comes to purity, Jesus was more than conservative. He honored God to the utmost. That is why His sacrifice is perfect – for everyone has sinned and fallen short of this. But He paid our debt, so that we, through faith in His redeeming work on the cross, can come freely to the throne of grace and receive life. I digress.
Better to speak too little than too much, wouldn’t you agree?
