R.I.P. Frosty…

I built a snowman yesterday on my sidewalk. He’d have to be the first snowman I’ve made in quite awhile. He was standing on the corner and stood about… maybe 3’5″ ? Anyway… I spent a good hour working on him and even went so far as to hunt down a pair of branches for arms. Too bad I didn’t have anything to make a face for him. Poor faceless Frosty. But anyway, I took a picture of him out in front of my house and went back inside.

This morning… well, you can imagine the scene. Mr Frosty’s bits were scattered across the pavement. It’s not like I didn’t know something like this couldn’t happen. Part of me knew how futile this was…. almost like building sandcastles on the beach with the tide comming in. But you know what? I still did it. You know why? Because I think somewhere inside… I would’ve let someone down if I didn’t build it. Think of it as giving kids the benefit of the doubt. I’m sure that some people probably walked past this snowman and smiled. (I don’t know how many… I only saw one and she didn’t even see the finished masterpiece! (hahahaha, who am I kidding?!?) I think somewhere while I was building this snowman, I thought about my childhood and about losing my innocence. I thought about hot cocoa, coal eyes and a carrot nose. I thought about how it must’ve been for God to shape a man from the dust… and to breathe life into it. There were lots of things running through my head. But most piercing of all… a verse.

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NIV)

Have a blessed week everyone!

Sorry… I have the picture of the late Mr. Frosty on my cell phone. So unless someone has a way to get the jpg off of my motorola V600, I guess you guys will just have to come up and ask for my phone. 😀

It’s strange that there’s snow there and not here.

  4. Beautiful snow! Takes me back to my childhood where life was a lot more carefree. It’s good to know that there are still people out there like me who’s still a kid at heart! God bless!
